OUR SCHOOL

The Ballet Conservatory opened its doors in 1991, under the direction of Mrs. Kelly Kilburn-Lannin. Mrs. Lannin established an excellent reputation in Lewisville for training dancers and nurturing talent and enthusiastically brought together a highly-qualified faculty to join her to provide the best instruction in all areas of dance! Each faculty member is an expert in their respected fields with professional experience and many hold college degrees in dance as well. Our faculty members offer encouragement and support; treating each child with respect as an individual. In addition to our outstanding professional faculty, the school also recognizes the importance of bringing in esteemed guest instructors. Our list of ballet master teachers include: Julie Kent, Michael Vernon, Edward Villella, Daniel Ulbricht, Sasha Radetsky, Sarah Lane, Sara Mearns, Shawn Stevens, Liuba Paterson, Leslie Peck, Jean Paul Comelin, Kim Abel, Charmaine Hunter, Sasha Yapporov and others. Special guest teachers in Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop have included Josh Bergasse, Max Stone, Bill Hotaling, Todd Shanks, Max Stone, Buster Cooper, David Storey and Joseph Lyons.

Ballet Conservatory received the prestigious award of “Outstanding School” by the Youth America Grand Prix Organization for the Southwest Region in 2008 and 2009, and most recently in 2017. Mrs. Lannin has received their "Outstanding Teacher" Award 4 times, and Mrs. Shanon Tate has won their "Outstanding Choreography" Award twice.  BC has received Reader’s Choice Awards multiple times for “Best Dance Studio” in Denton County by the Lewisville Leader, Dallas Morning News Neighbors Go and The Flower Mound News Connection. BC is home to the LakeCities Ballet Theatre and LBT 2, Lewisville’s only not-for-profit Ballet Company. Ballet Conservatory students may audition and participate in their annual holiday classic of The Nutcracker which has been twice named in the Dallas Morning News Top 10 Dance Events in the Metroplex. Intensity Dance Company (IDC) and our Boy’s Crew focus on jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop and are also at home at Ballet Conservatory. They are directed by Rachael Clark and perform locally and in Dallas and in two dance competitions per year. All of our companies receive top honors and choreography awards at local, national and international levels. See the "News” Tab for our student’s individual accomplishments!
